Cool RED Cool (Great Noise Ensemble)
12 Mar 2010
This is a live performance of Geoffrey Gordon's chamber work, Cool RED Cool, for seven instruments (flute, trumpet, alto saxophone, 2 percussion, piano and double bass), inspired by the 1986 Andy Warhol Self Portrait, featuring the Washington, DC-based new music group Great Noise Ensemble. Composed in 2000, this work won the inaugural Andy Warhol Social Observer Prize, premiering at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. (The Philadelphia Inquirer called the work, "a stunner.")
