Geoffrey Gordon's new work for string orchestra, Gotham News, after the painting of the same name by Dutch artist Willem de Kooning (1955), will premiere in Palermo, with the WADI Ensemble, in a performance at the Chiesa di Santa Caterina, in Bellini Plaza, Palermo, Italy, on 13 October 2018. This work is commissioned in connection with the 2017-18 Mario Merz Prize in Music Composition, awarded to Mr. Gordon. A second work will follow in April, 2019.

Stonyhurst College, in Clitheroe, Lancashire, for the last 200 years. This work was originally funded by the Britten Sinfonia.

Geoffrey Gordon's new chamber work, Cosmic
Inflation and the end of the dark ages, for mixed chamber ensemble, commissioned by the Institut Currie, as part of the Muse-IC project, will premiere in Paris, at the Salle Cortot concert hall, on 12 March 2019. Featuring an ensemble drawn from the musicians of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Gordon's new chamber work is inspired by the research of astrophysicist Herve Dole, into the first vibrations of the universe.

Geoffrey Gordon's multi-movement work for symphonic winds, ROCKS, receives its South Carolina premiere in a performance by the Charleston Southern University Symphonic Band, led by conductor Marshall Forrester. Charleston Southern University is one of 21 colleges and universities, including 20 American schools and Cambridge University in the UK, to commission ROCKS - a sonic exploration of Obsidian, Slate, Blue Lapis, Amethyst and Sulphur.
